Who I am

My journey exemplifies the transformative power of language, culture and connection:

Growing up in France with a multicultural background, I discovered early on how language bridges differences and fosters empathy.

Learning English at age 10 and later embarking on a life-changing university exchange in California deepened my passion for cross-cultural connection and self-discovery.

Over 20 years of teaching at the university level, I’ve guided students and educators to not just speak confidently, but to connect authentically—unlocking richer, more meaningful lives.

What I do

In light of recent trends, the future of adult education may very well be online, on demand and self-paced. I love having the opportunity to share my passion for teaching and learning without being limited by a physical space and location.

Now, I’m expanding my focus to share insights that inspire connection and growth, blending wisdom and culture in new ways.

If you’re interested in speaking real French, be sure to check out my crash courses and custom services.

Testimonials

A truly enjoyable experience. The perfect balance of work, fun, enthusiasm and commitment to the French language. You can tell she enjoys what she does and I can’t say enough how much of a pleasure it is to have had her as a French instructor.
— Sam B., University of California, Riverside, CA
I think it is pretty awesome that she doesn’t go strictly by the book and tries to add some practicality by teaching us things that would be useful in everyday interactions. Not only that but her personality in general is very lively and it is always a joy coming to her class.
— Chris N., University of California, Riverside, CA
Her class unabashedly broke down the stereotypical myths of France perceived by most outsiders. I am still bringing up facts and theories from that class in conversations with current French friends today. Prof. Rolland fostered an eagerness and even love in learning and maintaining spoken French, usually the hardest skill set to gain confidence in a foreign language.
— Rebekah L., Pomona College, claremont, CA
I can honestly say that she boosted an enduring fascination with French culture as no teacher I’d had before her ever had—indeed, it wasn’t until I took ‘Culture, Phonetics and Style’ with her that I was at all interested in learning about aspects of France other than its language. This same course also left me with a near-obsession with phonetics, a subject Professor Rolland explained clearly and animated with ease. She was (and doubtless still is) at once approachable, solicitous, frank, and perpetually kind.
— Deirdre K., Pomona College, claremont, CA
